Our schools foster open communication among staff and respect differences of opinion. The administration effectively delegates decision making and problem-solving to appropriate personnel while listening to and responding appropriately to staff, student, parent, and community concerns. Our employee-friendly environment promotes a climate of professional collegiality and respect.

First-Year Teacher Mentor Program

OSCS encourages first-year teachers, who are energetic and dedicated individuals looking to prove themselves in the education field, to apply to our institution. Our first year teaching program provides mentorship from a team perspective. Teachers are paired with a mentor, grade-level leader, and team leader, in addition to a supportive administration, who are willing to provide guidance and support to ensure success.

Professional Development

Employees of OSCS are privileged to receive both private and county professional developments. Professional development is offered at an individual level (teacher) and group level (staff). Many of our teachers from our Orlando Science Campus have attended national conferences focusing on reading, science, math, and specific teaching methodologies. Our schools have worked closely with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Valencia Community College, the McKeel Academy of Technology, The Ron Clark Academy, and motivational speaker Harry Wong, among others. Multiple professional days are scheduled in advance each school year.

Competitive Salary and Benefits

OSCS offers competitive salaries to newly hired and experienced teachers. Teachers with a master's degree are offered additional salary compensation. Many of our teachers have additional opportunities to earn supplemental income during the school year and summer months.

In addition to competitive wages, OSCS offers competitive health, dental, vision, STD, LTD,  and life insurance packages. Qualifying family members are also eligible for certain benefit packages.

Florida Universities

The state of Florida is privileged to have several of the top universities in the country. OSCS recognizes this honor and recruits teachers from the University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, among others. Our current faculty is staffed with graduates from most major universities in the state. Graduates from these schools often enter successfully into our schools and have the credentials to teach in the state of Florida.

Teacher Quotes From Our Main Campus "Orlando Science Schools"

“Over the last few years, I've questioned if teaching was indeed my passion. I felt as if I hadn't found a home that truly appreciated my talents and worked with those things I still need to improve…I knew right away that this was the place for me. The administration and teachers have been so kind, patient, and helpful.”

“Working for OSS has been nothing short of a wonderful experience. I could not ask for a better group of colleagues, students, and parent involvement. I have grown in many ways here and will always treasure the opportunities provided for me by this school. I have learned many new things about being an effective teacher and gained great experience working in kindergarten and first grade.”

“Thank you for giving me the chance to work with OSS. I have felt very accepted and I love it here!”

“I have worked with many administrators over the years and know that they set the climate for a great school. I have enjoyed being a part of OSS as a result.”
